The last blog of 2004

I have mixed feelings about writing something about life here, cosy life here.. for the last time in 2004 at it all seems so petty when compared to the huge and tragic loss of life due to the tsunami in Asia Pacific. The stories of how people are pulling together and helping each other is fantastic and I hope this continues.

I've been meaning to blog each day over the Christmas period but that has not happened. Instead, I have been playing with my Christmas toys..... of which the biggest is the iPod.

I've downloaded ALL our CD's onto it and there is still 27 Gb space spare so I have found some great sites with some free music and some free debate / discussion.

Just click on the link to see the Mercedes Benz mixed tapes. The current set contains a lovely piano and drum combination called "Cross The Flow" by Bertram Ritter. This is a fantastic off-beat piece of music and I wish I could find more of it. If you want a copy, email me and I will send it to you!

The other interesting stuff I have is the Reith Lectures and I have the whole set kindly given to me by Pete Ashton. I don't think they are available on the BBC web site any more.

The other interesting lectures are those of In Our Time presented by Melvin Bragg.

If you know of any interesting books, lectures or music I can download to the iPod, please let me know.

I still have a while to go before the iPod is full.

I am reading Accidental Empires by Robert X. Cringely at the moment and really enjoying it. I know it is a bit techno nerdy but I don't care. It is still a good read and Robert X. has a lovely style of writing.
