Sunflower

I took this shot of a sunflower and then cropped it and played with it a bit. It was a smallish sunflower decided not to give up and it was still trying to survive in late Autumn. Just like me then!

Insight Community Art Project

Work is doing this Insight Community Art Project (ICAP). Last week about 40 of us went to Toynbee hall to be entertained and taught how to see a photo by the two Zitowski's. Thomas and Angel.

We were taught the importance of composition, the rule of thirds, lighting, colour, getting to the message or nose, patterns, getting up close and keeping the eye in the box.

We were given a subject called the "Journey" and told to go out and shoot.

So today, with many different subjects in my head, I thought about taking doors, portals, gates. With people or without. No matter where, if you commute and go to work, you have to go through a gate or door of some sort. Going through door gets you from one part of your journey to the other. From a relaxing book to a coffee show, to work, to a meeting, to lunch at Pret's, to the Drain, to Waterloo, to the Evening Standard, to the train, to sit, to home to sleep and it all starts again the next day.

Let's see how long this subject lasts.

So today, the Journey took me to the Royal Brompton, where I took this picture of a hospital door. To heal, pain, to fix, to restore and hope.

More pictures to follow...
