The canal just past Deepcut.
|

Foxgloves on the canal.
|

Yesterday we went on a cycle down the Basingstoke canal. It was more of a trek than a cycle as we were in the saddle for more than 7 hours. Cycled all the way to Brookwood and caught the train back. It was a lovely day, we saw plenty and got stung by the nettles too!
|

Another daughter like mother scenario.... not upside down at this stage but still enjoying the swing all the same.
|

Well.... like mother like daughter.... or is it the other way around..... Again.... upside down, going as high as possible and not wanting to get off the swing at all..... what next?
|

Yesterday I fixed the swing in the garden. We hooked it up on a high branch of the oak tree and now there are queues for it. What fun! Can you remember the feeling of going as high as possible and hanging your head down and feeling the air and ground rush past?

If you have a chance, read the captions for this geocache... read them all. We placed this cache a while back and it is amazing what people see when they visit it. Take a look by clicking on the following link.

We went for a drive in the countryside and saw that some of the rapeseed still in flower.

We then walked through a bridleway to Five Lanes End and then followed the footpath signes back to Up Nately. The problem was sticking to the path... Well, we could not exactly go anywhere else and just got more and more wet.
|

We then went into Greywell Moors, and walked along the river Whitewater.
|

Here is a picture of King John's front door. A little "open plan" for my liking.
|

We then walked through Greywell and down the start of Basingstoke canal. On the way we popped in to King John's Castle but he was not in, not in for a long time.
|

This morning I went for a longer walk. I took Maisy the dog and we were out of the house by 6:30 am. Went through Butterwood to Greywell. Just before we got to Greywell, I saw this deer in the field through the hedge. It must have wondered what we were doing up so early. I zoomed out to the max on the little Minolta Dimage X. It is only a little baby camera but I think it did really well.

I am off work for the next two weeks and I want to take millions of photos each day and choose the best one for the blog to bore you with. I heard that the best time for taking photos is early morning and just before sunset so I will try and take some nice photos around these times. This morning, I walked from home through the forest to Greywell and then back, taking Maisy. It was a great walk and I felt I could go forever. The fields are still full of wheat and I would expect it to start turning into the lovely golden colour soon.

The answer to the question below is..... tadaaa!!! Neals Yard ! Picture of a Big Issue seller outside of Neals Yard... which is just up from Covent Garden. This area is always so interesting. Full of little designer clothes shops, shoe shops, restaurants (have you been to Belgo's?). Great place and it is easy to walk through from Covent Garden to Tottenham Court road.... much better than taking the tube!
|

OK... guess where this is.... c'mon.... don't give up..... somewhere in London!

Hannah, the neighbour's goat. She gets tethered in the common and is quite friendly.

Evening Standard seller outside Royal Exchange, close to Bank tube station.

Waterloo Station on the way home.

A picture taken from within the pod of the tables and chairs.

This picture was taken from the pod showing the old members building.
|

Here is another taken from the "pod" type building where all the sport comentators, journalists, radio and tv people normally sit.
|

I went to Lords Cricket Grounds today for a conference. After the conference we had a tour around the grounds and saw the famous long room and the visitors changing rooms and the museum. I took so many photos and have so many favourites. This is one showing the tourguide on the left.
|

Sitting at Lords

I am in a lecture hall at the most famous cricket grounds in the world. Yes, Lords!

However, the blinds are drawn, the speakers too and the sun is falling nicely on people walking around outside.

Later on, we will be taking a tour of the museum and the grounds which I am really looking forward to. I hope someone has brought a ball and a bat! I doubt it!

We had a talk from Tesco and later, from National Trust. Both own huge propert portfolios inside and outside the UK.

Very interesting.

Over and out for now!

Here is a picture of our front door from the other side while it is still light outside. Here you can see the rose creeper a little better.

I don't know why I have not played with the manual settings on the Olympus 3040z before. Last night I was playing with it, and thought I should go outside and take a photo just to see how it works. Here is the result. All the welly boots by the front door a shambles as usual. If you look carefully, you can even see the slight pink of the roses.

I took the older four children for a walk next to the unused part of Basingstoke Canal. The canal has plenty of wild birds and flowers such as dogrose and yellow iris. Here is a picture showing the old canal taken from an information board.
|

Last week, during lunch, I went to Spitalfields to grab a bite to eat. In the background, you can see people sitting at tables and eating. They have a Indonesian, Italian, Austro Hungarian, Greek/Turkish and on the others side thay have big pies and American Char Grilled Burgers. Spitalfields is a great place to see all kinds... people too.
|

Last week I took a few random photos while walking around during lunchtime. Mostly they come out blurred but often I notice things in them which I did not notice at the time of taking the picture. This one is a favourite. Take a look at the man in the background, head down, either reading something or fast asleep. Also the brand names in the green board in the background and then the lady big and bold in fthe foreground.

Poem

There once was a man from Japan
Who came to visit his nan
She gave him some stew
Which he could not chew
In a pan meringue raspberry jam

End of Day 6:25 pm

Today is an early get away. I could have stayed forever but decided to pack it in.

Lunchtime was good, a Pret sandwich on a bench in the sun but with a slight difference!

Have you ever heard of a Yoga Bunny Detox? And how about Liquid Psychiatry?

Well, my enlightened friend, let me enlighten you further. It is a drink, in a can, from Pret, does not move, has no legs or fur and actually tastes quite good. I just had to try it because of the name alone! The Marketing folks at Pret have done it again!

They were handing out packs of chewing gum at Liverpool Street Station today. I took a few packs. The gum has bits in and is supposed to clean your teeth while you chew. Maybe I should get a few for Maisy the border collie to see if it will help with her bad breath.

Consideration 6:40pm

If you get on a train and there is plenty of space in the normal seating area, please do not go and sit in the area for the bicycles. This means that I have to stand by my bicycle and hold it upright for the whole journey!

I wish the guard would come around and move the people but I have only heard of this happening once.

So now, I'm in the way, I'm angry, I'm tired.

10:16 pm Going Home

I am finally on the train. just got out from a long and complex excel session trying to calculate the effect of the performance fee on the overall cost in basis points.

Marvelous! I'm sure!

This train is a real slow one as it stops at all the stations tonight and I will only get to Hook after 11pm.

Pointless eating then! Maybe I'll have a glass of water and go to sleep.

It was good cycling from work to Waterloo Station. Nice and cool, no rain and not so much traffic.
